Fostering development that leads to college admissions and success throughout life.
YBS helps increase the number of African American and other minority high school students who are academically and competitively prepared for college and university admissions. Rigorously developed over more than two decades, the YBS student development approach features:
- On-going monitoring of scholars’ academic achievement.
- Enrichment learning experiences.
- Rewards for academic achievement.
- Advice for scholars and parents on college and university eligibility requirements, admissions, financial aid, and career opportunities.
In addition to enhancing a student’s academic skills and aptitude, the YBS program also teaches development tools that help youth succeed in the greater scope of life. The program’s policies and philosophies espouse a wide range of topics including personal responsibility, appropriate dress codes, ethics, and mature decision-making.

YBS conducts more than 40 workshops, programs, seminars, and conferences throughout the academic school year. These efforts create a comprehensive curriculum of academic and cultural enrichment activities. They also help both scholars and parents prepare for college admissions, selection, and continued success.
Moreover, to expose students to the college environment and to create a climate of higher learning, YBS hosts its activities on the campuses of colleges and universities. Additional YBS activities and resources include:
- Extensive academic learning support (PSAT, SAT, Math/Science, Foreign Language, etc.).
- Strong parental involvement component.
- Scholarship resourcing tools.
- College tours.
- Access to education, mentoring, economic development, and health and wellness series.
Ultimately, our process, resources, and alumni help transform opportunities into realities for thousands of African American students. Contact us today and learn more about YBS and how you can get involved in this groundbreaking program. |
